This is a Sotheby & Co. art auction catalogue from March 1970.

More specifically, it is titled, "Catalogue of Important Nineteenth-Century and Modern Etchings, Lithographs, and Woodcuts". The cover further details that it is  "Comprising The Property of Rear Admiral C. D. Howard-Johnston, The Property of the Late Mrs. A. M. Bernhard-Smith, The Property of Mrs. J. Isreal, of Victoria, Australia, The Property of Dr. G. Ziegler, and other owners." "Day of Sale: Tuesday, 24th March, 1970".

This catalogue includes countless works by famous artists, including Picasso, Matisse, Munch, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Chagall, and many others. This catalogue has been "priced", meaning that someone either sat at the auction, or received results after the auction, and made notes in the catalogue regarding the final sales price of each lot, and to whom it was sold. This gives us a wonderful resource when trying to establish provenance, or prove chain of ownership.

This catalogue is in very good pre-owned condition, with the only flaw being a small tear at the top of the spine, where the front cover and outer cover of the spine come together. There is very light shelf rub wear along the bottom edge of the book, and very light foxing at the corners. The only markings in this book are the notes on price and ownership, and the same hand also wrote the word "priced" on the front cover of the catalogue. Please see pictures for more details.
